The Best Gimbal For Nikon D750 Cameras!
The Nikon d750 is a popular DLSR camera from Nikon that has a massive number of both photographers and videographers who use it on a regular basis. Due to its huge user base, we see a fair few people reaching out each month asking about the best gimbal for Nikon d750 cameras and it is usually a point of controversy amongst the community.
This tends to be due to the fact that the Nikon d750 is a pretty heavyweight camera and its camera body alone comes in at around 1.65 pounds with no accessories mounted to it at all. We have lost count of the number of people on social media and photography/videography forums that we have seen recommend a gimbal designed for mirrorless cameras for a d750 without ever having used the camera on that gimbal.
Although these lower payload gimbals may be able to support some light d750 setups, the can be very restrictive in the accessories that you are able to use with your camera setup. Due to this, we have chosen to feature what we feel are the three best gimbals for the Nikon d750 available on the market right now. Our primary recommendation is probably going to be the best option for the majority of our readers whereas the other two can be considered the best gimbal in their specific niches that we will cover in more depth below.
Comparison Table

The DJI Ronin S is pretty much the undisputed king of DSLR camera gimbals at the time of writing and although a few competitors have tried to take the top spot from it, they have all failed and we can’t see anything taking the top spot from DJI in the DSLR camera bracket anytime soon. It is a great general purpose gimbal and will make a great addition to your Nikon d750 camera accessories.
Next up we have the Zhiyun Crane 3 that is another excellent gimbal stabilizer but in all honesty, we would only recommend that you add the Crane 3 to your collection of camera accessories if you know for a fact that you will need the increased load capacity it offers. It has a really high price tag for what you get at the time of writing and is only worth purchasing if you know for a fact that the Ronin S is unable to support the payload of your camera setup.
We have had some feedback about including a more budget-friendly option in our articles and although the Nikon d750 is an expensive camera that we would imagine professional level videographers would be using, we will include a budget gimbal for your Nikon d750 in the article. Our pick is the Moza Air 3 as it is a great bit of kit for its price tag, it should be able to support the majority of d750 setups out there but keep in mind, its lower price tag does result in a lower level of image stabilization in our opinion. If you are doing any paid client work, the DJI Ronin S is the way to go.
The DJI Ronin S
As we mentioned above, our primary gimbal recommendation for any of our users who have the Nikon d750 is the DJI Ronin S as it offers you some excellent performance, a great build quality, and all the versatility that you could want in a gimbal stabilizer. This ensures that there is a good chance that you are able to get exactly what you need out of the gimbal no matter what your client requires from you.
Since its release onto the market, the Ronin S has built up a well deserved reputation within the community that just keeps growing as the months come and go. Additionally, since its release, the Ronin S has also had a number of firmware updates to help improve performance and fix bugs with the gimbal so you have the peace of mind that DJI will continue to support the gimbal. There are also a number of d750 owners who use the Ronin S as their go-to handheld gimbal of choice and have no issues with it too.
Performance And Functionality
Now, considering that the DJI Ronin S does a great job of supporting the payload weight of many heavy Nikon d750 setups, it actually offers you a pretty impressive maximum battery life per charge of around twelve hours. We feel this is plenty and that the majority of our readers will be able to capture all of the video footage that they require within this time period without issue.
Additionally, the Ronin S can also be recharged on the go via some high capacity power banks and although there are some decent brands on the market, we would recommend that you consider the Anker Power Core range. When you are charging the Ronin S via a power outlet it can be charged back to full in as little as two hours.
User Interface And Control System
The buttons and joystick on the Ronin S are very responsive and ensure that you are easily able to get the most out of it even if your thumb is cold or wet. This ensures that no matter the conditions, you are able to accurately control your gimbal and ensure that you are doing the best job possible for your clients.
The DJI Smartphone App
The navigation menu on the app is really easy to use and allows you to quickly and easily get to any gimbal setting that you need to tweak. The sync system that DJI has put on their gimbal is second to none in our opinion and it quickly and easily lets you sync your smartphone with your gimbal. The config modification controls are also excellent and it allows you to quickly and easily tweak the settings of the gimbal on the go within seconds via your smartphone.
Build Quality And Design
The build quality of the gimbal is second to none in our opinion and it has been put together really well. The handle is as comfortable as possible so you are able to hold the gimbal for long periods of time without issue, the body and head of the gimbal are both made from lightweight yet very tough material to ensure that you can hold the weight of the gimbal with your Nikon d750 mounted on it for as long as required and the robust materials ensure it can take any bumps or knocks coming its way too.
Our Verdict
When you look at everything that the DJI Ronin S is able to provide your Nikon d750 it is easy to see why it is our primary recomendation for the camera. We have no doubt in our mind that it will be able to provide the image stabilization that the majority of our readers require while also helping to improve the image quality that you are able to provide for your clients.
There are also a bunch of reviews of the gimbal online that have been posted from independent, third party videographers who have added the Ronin S to their collection of camera accessories and use it as their go to gimbal of choice. There are some excellent insights amongst them that really go in depth and share the videographers experiences with the gimbal.
The Zhiyun Crane 3
Next up, we have the Zhiyun Crane 3 and although this is a very popular gimbal that offers you some absolutley outstanding performance when it comes to image stabilization for the heavier cameras like the Nikon d750, it is a very expensive gimbal and in all honesty, the DJI Ronin S covered above has very similar levels of performance to the Crane 3 but it is much cheaper.
The reason that we have featured the Crane 3 is that we know that many videographers like to use a battery grip with their cameras and that they also like to have heavier accessories like camera cages mounted to their cameras during use. With the Nikon d750 already being a pretty heavy camera, if you start mounting battery grips and camera cages to it, chances are, you will be quickly approaching the load capacity limit of the Ronin S and the Crane 3 offers just over two pounds of additional payload.
The Crane 3 has also been specifically designed for use with heavier DSLR setups too and makes your life easier when recording for longer periods of time too. Although the handheld gimbal is pretty new to the market, it has quickly earned itself a solid reputation within the community that only shows signs of growing.
Performance And Functionality
The battery life of the Crane 3 comes in at only seven and a half hours so it is a little substandard when compared to most other modern 3 axis gimbals on the market right now. Due to this, it might be an idea to invest in decent quality, high capacity, power bank to ensure you can top up your juice on the go when you are away from a power outlet.
User Interface And Control System
Now, the control system for the gimbal is based around two systems with one on each handle. Although this may sound a little confusing, it has actually be implemented very well in our opinion and does a great job of allowing you to hold your camera rig firm while tweaking any adjustments to the gimbals settings.
The top handle is based around the system shown in the image above that deals with the majority of config tweaks while the bottom handle is based around the joystick for manual mode to allow you to control the gimbal head. Although it can take a little getting used to, we are confident that you will pick it up quickly.
Smartphone App
It just lets you do more while being much easier to navigate. Hopefully, Zhiyun will overhaul the navigation menu for their app to make it easier to use while also adding some increased functionality and then it will be on par with what DJI offers.
Build Quality And Design
The build quality is excellent in all fairness to Zhiyun and we feel they have done a great job of putting the gimbal together as usual. Additionally, for the size of the gimbal and the payload weight that it can support, it is pretty light making your life easier as heavy gimbals can be a total pain.
Our Verdict
As we said earlier, in our opinion, the DJI Ronin S is the best gimbal for Nikon d750 cameras on the market right now but the Zhiyun Crane 3 does have a niche for anyone who uses a super heavy setup. If you are a videographer who likes to use a heavy Nikon d750 setup then the Crane 3 will be the better option in our opinion and it will make a great addition to your camera accessories but if you use a more average weight setup under seven pounds then do with the Ronin S and save the additional money.
The Moza Air 3
The final gimbal that we are going to be covering is the Moza Air 3 that is our budget gimbal for Nikon d750 cameras. Just like we said back at the start of the article, if you are using a Nikon d750 then chances are that you are a professional level videographer who does high end paid client work.
Due to this, we would imagine that that majority of our readers who use the Nikon d750 will be wanting to gt the best performance possible out of their gimbal. Due to this, we would always recommend that you take the DJI Ronin S over the Air 3 as its level of performance is better.
That said, the Air 3 is still a decent gimbal and has a well deserved reputation within the community that is steadily growing. Due to this not being our primary gimbal recommendation for the Nikon d750, we will just be skimming over this section as we doubt many d750 owners will be looking for a budget gimbal.

Our Verdict
As we said, the Air 3 is essentially a more budget-friendly DJI Ronin S with the performance to match its price point. If you need the professional-level performance, go with the Ronin S, if you need to stick to a budget, go with the Air 3.
